A much loved Plymouth teenager has been named locally as the young man who tragically died after being struck by a train in the city late on Saturday night.
Josh Hayman’s family and friends are calling on the Green Army to rise to their feet in the 19th minute tonight, with one minute of applause for every year of his life, echoing through Home Park in his memory.
Josh Hayman, 19, known to his friends as 'Jayman', has been remembered as a kind, funny and fiercely loyal young man who loved his family, his mates and his football. He was a devoted Plymouth Argyle fan and a familiar face among the Green Army.
Family and friends have set up a memorial to Josh at Central Park, where Argyle’s Home Park stadium sits on the edge of the fields he knew so well.
At Central Park, a large memorial has grown beneath the shade of a tree. Flowers, photographs, an Argyle shirt and a banner reading “Argyle Are Massive” have been carefully placed alongside heartfelt tributes.

Those visiting the memorial spoke of a young man who would do anything for the people he cared about, who was always there when you needed him most, and whose smile could lift even the heaviest of hearts.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police told Plymouth Plus:
"Officers were called to the line in Plymouth at around 11.45pm on Saturday (9 August) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

The railway line was closed for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene. Formal inquiries into the circumstances of Josh’s death continue and an inquest is expected to be opened in due course.
Plymouth Argyle supporters have shared hundreds of messages online. Many plan to visit the Central Park memorial in the coming days to leave flowers, shirts and tokens of remembrance.
Plymouth Plus extends our deepest condolences to Josh’s loved ones. We will share details of any public vigil or celebration of life when confirmed by the family.
