US citizens and friends living in Britain are set to rally at the Mayflower Steps on the Barbican today, Sunday 17 August 2025, between 1pm and 3pm.

Organisers from Indivisible Southwest and Americans for Action Bristol say the peaceful, static demonstration will highlight concerns about recent US immigration raids and due process.

The protest follows a spring action in Bristol where Americans for Action joined a global day of action outside the Tesla showroom at Cribbs Causeway. That event drew dozens of participants and was billed as a calm, visible protest aimed at raising awareness.

Choosing the Mayflower Steps is deliberate. The site is traditionally marked as the departure point of the 1620 voyage that led to the Plymouth Colony, a moment that still resonates in debates about migration, identity and rights.

The event is advertised as open to all who wish to show support for immigrants and for fair legal process. The organisers say they want to use that symbolism to spark conversations with passers by about humane immigration enforcement and constitutional protections.
