Armed police arrest man after knife incident in Plymouth

Armed officers from Devon and Cornwall Police responded to reports of a man suspected of being armed with a knife at a property on Union Street in Plymouth today.

Officers arrived promptly at the address following the call. Upon arrival, police detained a man in his 30s, who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting police officers and for allegedly breaching bail conditions.

The incident occurred just metres from the Lidl on Union Street and the suspect remains in police custody at this time.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:

"Police were called to a property on Union Street, Plymouth, today following reports of a man with suspected to be armed with a knife.
"Armed officers attended the address where a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of assault on officers and being in breach of bail.
He is currently in custody."
