# Armed police, dogs and vans respond after man steals skewers from takeaway

Residents in Plymouth were left alarmed on Saturday night as armed police, a dog unit and numerous vans descended on Stonehouse. 

The response saw two armed response vehicles, a dog unit, two police vans and a patrol car swoop on King Street shortly after 11pm, following a report that a man had stolen skewers from a late night takeaway.

While no arrests were made, police have since confirmed that the skewers were recovered and safely returned to their rightful owner. A spokesperson for [Devon and Cornwall Police](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/devon-and-cornwall-police/) told Plymouth Plus:

> *"We were called to the King Street area of Plymouth, shortly after 11pm on Saturday 20 September following a report of a disturbance.*

> *"It was reported a man stole skewers from a late night takeaway and left the scene.*

> *"Armed officers attended and confirmed that the skewers had been located and returned to the takeaway.*

> *"No suspect was located."*
