Police have made an attempted murder arrest after a late night hit and run in Callington last night left two men seriously injured.
Officers were called to the Fore Street at 10.25pm following reports of a collision where a driver failed to stop. Two men sustained serious injuries and were taken to Derriford Hospital.
A 29-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder, failing to stop after an accident, dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink. He remains in police custody.
A police cordon put in place until the early hours of the morning while investigators examined the area. The remnants of a shoe, work glove and water bottle could be seen on the footpath.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference 50250278756.

"Officers were called at 10.25pm on 28 October to Fore Street, Callington, following a report of a hit and run collision.
"Two men sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital.
"Officers carried out enquiries in the area and located the car that had left the scene.
"A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder, failing to stop after an accident, driving dangerously, driving whilst unfit through drink. He remains in police custody at this time.
"Our enquiries remain ongoing in relation to this incident.
"Anyone with information which may assist us is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 50250278756."
