Police remain guarding a property for a second day after a Plymouth man was arrested on suspicion of blackmail.
Officers have been guarding a property on Venn Grove since yesterday, with police activity continuing this afternoon.
Residents in the area have seen a heightened police presence, with one local telling Plymouth Plus that they witnessed officers seizing two cars.
The investigation is being led by officers over 200 miles away in Oxfordshire from Thames Valley Police.
A 31-year-old man from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of blackmail. He has since been released on conditional bail.
Police have sought to reassure the public that there is not believed to be any wider risk to the community.
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said:
“Yesterday morning (18/3), officers executed a warrant under Section 8 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act at a property in Venn Grove, Plymouth, as part of enquiries linked to an ongoing investigation in Oxfordshire.
“The warrant follows the arrest of a 31-year-old man from Plymouth on suspicion of blackmail. He has since been released on conditional bail.
“Officers will remain in the Venn Grove area to continue their investigative work. At this time, we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public.”
