# Bomb squad called in as man arrested in Plymouth firearms investigation

A bomb disposal team is in Mutley after a man was arrested in connection with a firearms investigation.

Police have cordoned off College Avenue and a number of nearby roads, with a 100 metre cordon put in place.

Residents within the cordon are being evacuated by the police. It follows an [earlier major emergency service](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/major-response-outside-police-station-amid-high-risk-operation-in-plymouth/) presence outside Charles Cross police station.

Police have confirmed that officers carried out a warrant at a property on the street.

A man in his 20s, from Plymouth, has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm without a certificate.
