# Boy, 10, seriously injured after being ‘sent flying’ by illegal e-bike in Plymouth

A 10-year-old boy has suffered serious injuries after being hit and sent flying by an illegal e-bike in Plymouth.

Police were called to [the serious collision on Wolseley Road](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/boy-really-injured-after-being-hit-by-e-bike-in-plymouth/), close to the junction with Saltash Road, at around 4.40pm yesterday afternoon (17 September).

A modified e-bike struck the boy, who was a pedestrian near the bus stop at the time. He was taken by land ambulance to [Derriford Hospital.](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/derriford-hospital/)

His injuries, although serious, have since been determined to be not life-threatening.

The rider and pillion passenger on the modified e-bike were also taken to Derriford Hospital with minor injuries.

A 16-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving.

An eyewitness told Plymouth Plus at the time that the child was "really injured" after being "sent flying" by the e-bike.

A lane of Wolseley Road was closed while officers from the Roads Policing Team carried out a collision investigation.

Officers have thanked members of the public for their patience while the road was closed and are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage or other information which could assist their investigation.
