A cyclist is fighting for his life following a collision involving a silver Ford Fiesta in Plymouth today, prompting an urgent appeal from Devon and Cornwall Police for witnesses and dash-cam footage.
Emergency services responded shortly before 10am on Thursday, 24 July, to reports of the collision at Woolwell Roundabout, near the junction with Towerfield Drive.
The male cyclist was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to Derriford Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police have confirmed his next of kin are by his side and receiving support from specially trained officers.
Roads Policing officers immediately launched a serious collision investigation, closing roads in the area for several hours to gather crucial evidence. Devon and Cornwall Police have thanked the public for their patience during this disruption.
Investigators are particularly keen to speak with anyone who saw the collision or observed the silver Ford Fiesta or cyclist in the moments leading up to the incident. Officers have issued an urgent request for dash-cam and CCTV footage that could help piece together exactly what happened.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:
"We are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage following a road traffic collision in Plymouth.
"We were called shortly before 10am today, Thursday 24 July, following a report of a collision involving a silver Ford Fiesta and a cyclist on Woolwell Roundabout, at the junction to Towerfield Drive.
"The male cyclist has sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision and has been taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment.
"His next of kin are with him and being supported by officers at hospital.
"Roads Policing officers attended the scene and conducted a thorough investigation.
"The road was closed for several hours whilst the investigation took place. Officers would like to thank members of the public for their understanding and patience while work was carried out.
"Anybody who may have witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles involved at around the time of the incident is asked to contact us on 101 or via our website quoting log 247 of 24 July. The investigation team is particularly keen to hear from anyone with relevant dash-cam or CCTV footage."
