Emergency services save woman from wrong side of bridge in Plymouth

Emergency services have saved a woman from the wrong side of a footbridge in Plymouth.

Police, firefighters, paramedics, and critical care paramedics from the Devon Air Ambulance responded to the emergency.

A major emergency response was seen in the area just after midnight on Saturday, 8 November.

Road closures were put in place on Gdynia Way and surrounding roads while emergency services worked at the scene.

After a tense negotiation, the woman was thankfully talked around to the right side of the barrier.

She was left in the care of healthcare professionals.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:

"Police were notified just after midnight on Saturday 8 November to reports of a woman on the wrong side of the barrier on Laira Road footbridge in Plymouth.
"Emergency services attended and closures were put on surrounding roads while officers worked at the scene.
"The woman was then talked around to the right side of barrier and left in the care of healthcare professionals."
