# Emergency services save woman from wrong side of bridge in Plymouth

Emergency services have saved a woman from the wrong side of a footbridge in Plymouth.

Police, firefighters, paramedics, and critical care paramedics from the [Devon Air Ambulance](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/devon-air-ambulance/) responded to the emergency.

A major emergency response was seen in the area just after midnight on Saturday, 8 November.

Road closures were put in place on Gdynia Way and surrounding roads while emergency services worked at the scene.

After a tense negotiation, the woman was thankfully talked around to the right side of the barrier.

She was left in the care of healthcare professionals.

A spokesperson for [Devon and Cornwall Police](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/devon-and-cornwall-police/) told Plymouth Plus:

> "Police were notified just after midnight on Saturday 8 November to reports of a woman on the wrong side of the barrier on Laira Road footbridge in Plymouth.

> "Emergency services attended and closures were put on surrounding roads while officers worked at the scene.

> "The woman was then talked around to the right side of barrier and left in the care of healthcare professionals."
