# French military fighter jet makes emergency landing at UK airport

A French military fighter jet has made an emergency landing at Exeter Airport this evening.

Plymouth Plus understands that the Dassault Rafale jet experienced engine failure while on a training mission.

Locals living near the airport described the aircraft as making an unusual noise as it came in to land.

Emergency services lined the runway and the [South Western Ambulance Service](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/south-western-ambulance-service/) sent its Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene.

The jet is now stranded at Exeter Airport awaiting inspection by engineers, while the other has now departed the airport.

Nobody is believed to have suffered any injuries and the emergency response was understood to have been precautionary.
