HM Coastguard and police save man in Plymouth after late night Stonehouse search

A late night emergency search unfolded with Devon and Cornwall Police and HM Coastguard working side by side to save a man in danger in the Stonehouse area of Plymouth.

Witnesses contacted Plymouth Plus after seeing a large emergency service response near Cremyll Street and around the waterfront as the incident unfolded.

It was HM Coastguard who first confirmed their involvement to Plymouth Plus, saying they had been called to support police officers already at the scene.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police and HM Coastguard combed the waterfront under darkness, checking alleyways, steps and shoreline areas where the man was believed to be.

After an anxious search, police have confirmed that the missing man was finally located. Thanks to the joint efforts of HM Coastguard teams and police, he was brought to safety and handed into the care of healthcare professionals
