# Five-car crash brought Exeter Street in Plymouth to a standstill

A serious multi-vehicle collision caused major disruption on one of Plymouth’s busiest city centre routes on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash, involving at least five vehicles, occurred shortly after 1 PM on the westbound side of the A374 Exeter Street, between Cattedown Roundabout and Bretonside. Traffic came to a standstill as emergency services responded.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that minor injuries were reported. One driver was reported to court for driving without a full licence.

The road remained closed for around two hours while officers and recovery crews cleared the scene and reopened the route.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

> "Officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving five vehicles on Exeter Street, Plymouth, at around 12.55pm on Tuesday, 13 May.

> "Emergency services attended. Minor injuries were reported.

> "One driver was reported to court for driving while holding only a provisional licence. The road was blocked temporarily but later reopened.”
