A serious collision investigation is underway tonight after a motorcyclist has been left injured in a crash on the A386.

Emergency services were called to the busy road connecting Plymouth and Tavistock earlier this afternoon following reports of a collision involving a motorcycle.

A motorcyclist was rushed to Derriford Hospital and specialist serious collision investigators have been at the scene this evening conducting an investigation to establish the circumstances of the crash.

The closure has caused major traffic disruption across the city, with long delays reported on surrounding routes. Many drivers have been forced to divert through narrow backroads as traffic builds around Roborough and Yelverton.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:

"The ambulance service was also called and a road closure put in place in both directions.
"The motorcycle rider has been taken to hospital.
"The incident is ongoing. "
