A house fire has destroyed the ground floor of a home after flames ripped through the property late last night.
Emergency services were called to the property on St Margarets Road in Plympton at 9.03pm last night, Wednesday, 25 February.
Four fire engines from Plympton, Crownhill and Greenbank were sent to the scene alongside an ambulance.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said:
"We were called to a house fire on St Margaret’s Road in Plymouth at 9.03pm on 25 February. Four appliances from Plympton, Crownhill, and Greenbank fire stations attended.
"On arrival, the occupant was free and clear of the building, and the ground floor was well alight.
"Crews used breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, two safety jets, thermal imaging cameras, and small tools to tackle and extinguish the fire.
"A positive pressure ventilation fan was also used to clear a neighbouring property of smoke.
"The ground floor was 100% damaged by fire, with the first floor 70% damaged by smoke and heat.
"One person was taken to hospital by ambulance. The fire is not thought to have been started deliberately."
