Protesters are marching through Plymouth today in a mass demonstration over nuclear fears at Devonport Dockyard.

Organised by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), the protest calls for a rethink of the Strategic Defence Review and demands investment in peace, not nuclear weapons.

The event will begin at 12 noon in the Guildhall Square, Armada Way, where crowds will gather for speeches and a rally.

At 1pm, an open-top bus is taking protesters on a tour of Plymouth’s nuclear sites and the city’s connections to the defence industry.

The protest will continue at 2.15pm with a gathering at the gates of the Trident nuclear dockyard at Camel’s Head in Weston Mill.
