A major emergency response was launched after a stolen car was found abandoned in Burrator Reservoir.

Emergency services were called on Sunday morning after reports that a vehicle was submerged in the water.

It was also reported that a shoe was seen floating next to the car, raising fears that somebody may still have been inside.

This prompted a large emergency response as crews from across Devon raced to the scene to assess the risk.
