A major emergency response unfolded in Plymouth this evening (28 August) following a medical emergency requiring a bariatric rescue.

At least three ambulances, fire and police, responded to the incident at Basket Ope on the [Barbican](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/barbican/).

One fire appliance, alongside an aerial ladder platform and technical rescue adviser, assisted the ambulance service with casualty extraction.
