# Major investigation launched after fire at Plymouth flat

A major investigation has been launched after a fire at a flat in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters were called to Laira Bridge Road just before 5.30am after reports of a serious fire inside the property.

Detectives, forensic officers and fire investigators have all been at the scene this morning as a major investigation into the cause of the fire is launched. 

Plymouth Plus understands that a man was taken to [Derriford Hospital](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/derriford-hospital/) with potentially serious burn injuries.
