# Man arrested after crashing into lamppost and car in Plymouth

A man has been arrested on suspicion of various offences after a collision completely closed a road in Plymouth last night.

Police and paramedics were called to Whitsoncross Lane in [Tamerton Foliot](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/tamerton-foliot/) following reports that a Hyundai i20 had crashed into a lamppost and another vehicle.

The driver, a man aged in his 40s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and possession of a controlled substance.

He was checked over by paramedics and taken to hospital by [ambulance](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/south-western-ambulance-service/) with what police say were believed to be minor injuries.
