# Man arrested after late-night window smash in Plymouth injures resident

A man has been arrested after an item was hurled through the window of a home in Wordsworth Road, Plymouth.

Police were called after reports that an item had been thrown through the window of the property in [North Prospect](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/north-prospect/).

A man in his 40s suffered a facial injury after being struck by a piece of glass when the window shattered. Officers arrived at the scene shortly after and located a suspect behaving aggressively further down the street.

A man in his 20s from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to the property and assault by beating.

He later received a deferred caution, which means police gave him the chance to avoid a formal caution or charge subject to him complying with certain conditions such as paying compensation or staying out of trouble for a set period.

A spokesperson for [Devon and Cornwall Police](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/devon-and-cornwall-police/) told Plymouth Plus:

> "Police were called following a report of criminal damage to a property in Plymouth.

> "An item was thrown through the window of an address in Wordsworth Road by an unknown man.

> "A man in his 40s sustained a facial injury after being hit by a piece of glass when it was smashed.

> "Officers attended and located the suspect behaving aggressively further down the street.

> "A man in his 20s from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to property and assault by beating. He received a deferred caution."
