A man was arrested on suspicion of assault and ABH following an altercation involving two groups of people.
Police and a police dog unit were called to Charles Street in the City Centre after it was reported that there had been an altercation between two groups of people.
The victim, in his 20s, was knocked unconscious to the ground after being punched and sustained an injury to his ear.
Upon the arrival of the police, the suspect left the scene and officers carried out an area search.
Following searches by a police dog, the suspect was located shortly later. Officers arrested the man aged in his 20s on suspicion of assault ABH.
The matter was dealt with by way of a community resolution, as agreed by the victim.
A community resolution is a form of restorative justice which is used to deal with less serious crimes outside of court.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:
"Police were called around 1.25am on Saturday 8 November following reports of an altercation involving two groups of people in Charles Street, Plymouth.
"A man was punched by another man during the incident.
"The victim, in his 20s, was knocked unconscious to the ground and sustained an injury to his ear. The suspect left the scene.
"Officers attended and located a suspect nearby a short time later.
"A man in his 20s from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of assault ABH. The matter was dealt with by community resolution with the consent of the victim."
