A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape following a serious sexual assault in Plymouth.
Police were called at around 6.25am on Thursday morning (15 May) following reports that a man had sexually assaulted a woman.
Detectives have launched an investigation, with officers carrying out door-to-door enquiries and examining multiple scenes across the city. One cordon remains in place at Gibbon Lane.
The suspect, from Plymouth, remains in police custody as of Thursday morning.
The victim is receiving support from specially trained officers, Devon and Cornwall police have said.
Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact police.
