# Man dies after being hit by train in Plymouth

A man has sadly died after being hit by a train in Plymouth this evening (13 September).

The man was pronounced deceased after climbing over a fence alongside the railway line in [St Budeaux](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/st-budeaux/).

A spokesperson for British Transport Police told Plymouth Plus that the matter is not being treated as suspicious and that they will prepare a file for HM Coroner.

[Devon and Cornwall Police](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/devon-and-cornwall-police/) also attended the scene to assist with road closures.

Passengers on board the train were taken off at St Budeaux Ferry Road railway station and transferred into waiting taxis.

A [major emergency response was launched](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/major-999-response-after-man-hit-by-train-in-plymouth/), with firefighters, paramedics and police all responding.
