Man dies after collapsing on Plymouth Hoe

A man has died after collapsing on Plymouth Hoe yesterday morning, Sunday 22 February.

Emergency services were called at 12.01pm following concerns for the welfare of a man on Hoe Road in Plymouth.

The man, aged in his 50s, had become unwell and collapsed on the pavement.

The South Western Ambulance Service sent two double crewed land ambulances and an operations officer to the scene.

Paramedics and members of the public attempted to help the man, but despite their best efforts, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

His death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will now be prepared for the coroner.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"We were called at around 12.05pm on Sunday 22 February following concerns for the welfare of a man on Hoe Road, Plymouth.
"The man in his 50s had become unwell and collapsed.
"Ambulance attended.
"Despite the best efforts of paramedics and members of the public, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"His death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
