A major search was launched on Plymouth Hoe last night after emergency services were called over concerns for the welfare of a man.

The ambulance service raised concerns about the welfare of a man, which led HM Coastguard, RNLI, and the police to conduct land and sea searches.

The RNLI inshore lifeboat, alongside HM Coastguard rescue teams from both Plymouth and Looe responded.

Police have confirmed that the man was safely located near Plymouth Hoe and taken to Derriford Hospital as a precaution.
