Man named and charged after incident involving sword in Plymouth

A man has been named and charged after a sword was seized during an incident in Plymouth over the weekend.

It follows an incident on Hospital Road in Greenbank on Saturday where a man in his 20s suffered a stab wound to the chest, believed to be from a screwdriver.

Armed officers, critical care paramedics from Devon Air Ambulance and the South Western Ambulance Service rushed to the scene.

A sword was allegedly brandished during the altercation and a man from Plymouth has now been charged as a result.

Travis Haydon, 28, of Mildmay Street, has been charged with affray, possession of a knife or bladed article in a public place, and threatening a person with a blade or sharply pointed article in a public place.

He is due to appear before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today Tuesday, 4 November).

Two other suspects have been arrested in connection with this incident. A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and later released on police bail.

A woman, also in her 20s, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has also been bailed.
