# Man pleads guilty for failing to remove face mask at Plymouth flag protest

A man has pleaded guilty after failing to remove a face covering during a protest in Plymouth.

[Devon and Cornwall Police](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/devon-and-cornwall-police/) implemented a section 60AA order, meaning it was unlawful to wear any item to conceal your identity at the demonstrations. 

Charles Thomas, aged 30, of Apsley Road, Plymouth, appeared at [Plymouth Magistrates’ Court](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/courts/) this morning, Tuesday, January 6.

Thomas pleaded guilty to failing to remove a face mask under Section 60AA and was handed a six-month conditional discharge.

The charge relates to [rival protests in Plymouth](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/in-pictures-hundreds-attend-flag-march-and-anti-fascist-counter-protest-in-plymouth/) on Saturday, December 6, when groups gathered in and around the city centre, including near the Civic Centre, as part of the South West Unity March and a counter-protest.
