# Man suffers serious injuries after becoming trapped under parked car in Plymouth

A man suffered serious injuries after becoming trapped under a parked car in Plymouth yesterday afternoon.

Police, firefighters and paramedics rushed to Peters Park Close at around 1.15pm, with the Cornwall Air Ambulance landing at Marine Academy Plymouth as the [major 999 response unfolded](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/air-ambulance-lands-at-plymouth-school-as-major-999-response-unfolds/). 

The man was taken to [Derriford Hospital](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/derriford-hospital/), where he remains. Police and firefighters remained at the scene until late last night.

Plymouth Plus understands the man had been carrying out maintenance underneath the vehicle when he suffered his injuries.

In an update, a spokesperson for [Devon and Cornwall Police](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/devon-and-cornwall-police/) told Plymouth Plus: 

> "We were called at 1.15pm to Peters Park Close following a report that a man had become trapped under a parked car. 

> "Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital where he remains receiving treatment.

> "Enquiries are ongoing."

A spokesperson for the [South Western Ambulance Service](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/south-western-ambulance-service/) said:

> “We were called at 13:13hrs on Thursday 16 October to an incident in Plymouth. 

> "We sent a double-crewed land ambulance, an air ambulance, a first responder and an operations officer to the scene and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Derriford Hospital.”
