A man was safely escorted off the Tamar Bridge and taken home by emergency services after concerns were raised for his welfare yesterday evening, 7 July.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they were called to the scene at around 7pm following a report concerning the welfare of a man on the bridge, which connects Plymouth to Saltash.
Multiple emergency vehicles were seen near the bridge. A Plymouth Plus reporter attended the scene, where an unmarked emergency vehicle had been left stationary on the Saltash side of the bridge with no immediate explanation.
At the time, the nature of the incident could not be confirmed, and it was not clear where emergency personnel were deployed. The Tamar Bridge remained open throughout the incident.
A police spokesperson has since told Plymouth Plus:
"Police were notified at around 7pm yesterday, Monday 7 July, to reports of a concern of welfare of a man on Tamar Bridge, Plymouth.
"Emergency services were in attendance and the man was located and escorted off the bridge and taken home."
