A man is in hospital after being seriously assaulted while in a car in Plymouth on Saturday 23 August.

Police were called by the ambulance service at around 9.05pm after the victim was found with multiple puncture wounds on Pembroke Lane in Devonport. The man, in his 30s, was taken to Derriford Hospital in a critical condition. His injuries have since been confirmed as not life threatening or life changing.

Detectives now believe the attack happened while the victim was inside a vehicle on Beaumont Street before it was located on Pembroke Lane. Officers sealed off the area on Saturday night while an investigation was launched.

“We are appealing for anyone who we have not already spoken to and who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Beaumont Street area between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Saturday 23 August to please contact us.
“We believe that there is no wider threat to members of the public.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area while searches and enquiries remain ongoing, and we would encourage anyone with information or concerns to speak with officers or to contact us by calling 101.”
