Three 21-year-old Plymouth Argyle football fans have been handed three year Football Banning Orders after being caught with cocaine in the away end during the fixture in Cardiff on Saturday 30 August 2025.
South Wales Police said stewards were alerted by a fellow Plymouth supporter after the trio were seen openly snorting cocaine among travelling fans. Upon being searched, all three were found to have cocaine, a class A controlled drug. One man, Carson Gardner, was also in possession of cannabis.
Alongside him, Ronnie Rice of Plymouth and Daniel Logan of Ivybridge have been banned from attending any UK football match for three years and will be required to surrender their passports on occasions when England play abroad.
Gardner received a £133.00 fine plus £85 costs. Rice received a £133.00 fine plus £85 costs. Logan received a £253.00 fine plus £85 costs.
Police highlighted that possession of a class A drug was added as a Schedule 1 offence under football legislation in 2022, reflecting increased drug use and associated disorder at matches. A spokesperson said the banning orders aim to protect law abiding supporters and deter similar behaviour.
Superintendent Emma Fox, said:
"Whenever there is evidence of football-related offences, we will pursue those responsible so that appropriate action is taken.
“Drugs blight our communities, and we will not tolerate their use, and that includes at football matches and other events.
“The vast majority of football fans behave respectfully - it is individuals like these who give football fans and their clubs a bad name. There is no place for it."
