A man accused of strangling an 82-year-old has appeared before Plymouth Magistrates' Court today, Monday 20 October 2025.
It follows a large police response on Chudleigh Road just after 3am early on Saturday morning, with at least four police vehicles attending.
Thomas Reid, 32, from Chudleigh Road, Plymouth, offered not guilty pleas to both charges of of intentional strangulation and has been remanded into custody.
Reid will next appear at Plymouth Crown Court on 24 November. A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:
"Thomas Reid, 32, from Chudleigh Road, Plymouth, has been charged with two counts of intentional strangulation in connection to an incident on 18 October.
"He is due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today (20 October)."
