The A35 was closed for several hours while specialist collision investigators examined the scene and recovery took place. Dorset Police Sergeant Leanne Howes, of the Roads Policing Team, said:

"We are investigating the circumstances of what happened and would like to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage.
“Road closures were put in place while an examination of the scene was carried out and we are aware that they would have greatly impacted motorists. I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while they were in place.”
