A man is fighting to recover in hospital after suffering serious injuries during a violent late night assault in Plymouth.
Police were called to Theatre Ope at 11.20pm on Wednesday, October 1, following reports of an altercation. Police and ambulance rushed to the scene where they found a man in his 40s badly hurt. He was taken to Derriford hospital where he remains under care for his injuries.
A 20-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody.
A spokesperon for Devon and Cornwall Police said:
"We were called at 11.20pm last night [Wednesday, October 1] to reports of an assault on Theatre Ope where a man sustained injuries following an altercation.
"A man in his 40s sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains.
"A 20-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody.
"Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact police on 101 or via our website quote log 884 of 1 October."
