Plymouth Plus can reveal that the large house fire which broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning happened in Ernesettle, not Honicknowle despite inaccurate reports elsewhere.
The blaze, which completely destroyed the ground floor of a property on Croydon Gardens and caused heavy smoke damage upstairs, led to several 999 calls just before 1am. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service sent five fire engines to the scene after crews confirmed the fire was well alight.
Contrary to reports from another media outlet, Devon and Cornwall Police has told Plymouth Plus that "the person inside the property at the time was able to escape unhurt".

A spokesperon for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:
"We were called at around 1am on Sunday 3 August following a report of a fire at a property in Croydon Gardens in Plymouth.
"The person inside the property at the time was able to escape unhurt.
"It is believed the fire may have been started deliberately.
"Enquiries are ongoing.
"Anybody with relevant information or footage is asked to contact us on 101 or via our website quoting 50250200349".
