Mimi's Radio Show provides balanced coverage every Tuesday and Friday until voting day.
Plymouth residents face a crucial decision on July 17th when they vote on whether to introduce a directly elected mayor system. Ferndale Community Radio is ensuring locals have all the facts before casting their ballots.
About Ferndale Community Radio
Ferndale Community Radio is the brainchild of former Royal Marine bandsman Steve Medlin and his son Ryan. Based in The Ferndale Community Hub in Weston Mill, FCR launched in July 2019 and is run entirely by volunteers.
"It began as a project for my son's degree course and has grown from a handful of listeners to over 4 million a month. We are a local and global radio with presenters broadcasting from Plymouth, London and Australia. Our local audience grew during the covid pandemic and is increasing consistently," Steve Medlin explained.
Special Referendum Coverage Until July 17th
Radio presenter Mimi hosts dedicated referendum discussions every Tuesday 11am-2pm and Friday 2pm-5pm, featuring weekly panel discussions with different guests and perspectives to ensure Plymouth residents are fully informed.
FCR Radio Mimi told Plymouth Plus: "Changing the governance of Plymouth was a really big deal. The people of Plymouth should have the opportunity to know all the facts before they vote on the upcoming Referendum for a Directly Elected Mayor."
She added:
"I wanted to give members of the public an opportunity to step aside from the noise that surrounds the upcoming Mayoral referendum and put their points across. If it's a democratic decision, then let people practise democracy."

Mimi welcomes a distinguished panel including:
- Nicholas Pomeroy - 'Directly Elected Mayor' campaign member
