Police appeal after serious sexual assault near Mutley Plain in Plymouth

Detectives have launched an appeal for witnesses and CCTV after a woman was seriously sexually assaulted in Plymouth in the early hours.

Police say were called shortly after 4am on Saturday, January 10, following a report that a woman had been sexually assaulted in the Mutley Plain area.

A scene guard remained in place on Furzehill Road throughout the day and into the evening.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 8ins tall, with blondish hair. Officers say efforts to locate him are ongoing.

Police confirmed the victim is being supported by specially trained officers.

Detectives are urging anyone who was in the area around Mutley Plain at the time, or anyone with relevant footage, to come forward.

That includes home CCTV, doorbell cameras, dashcams and any other recordings that may have captured movement along streets leading to and from Furzehill Road.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said they want to hear from anybody who “noticed anything suspicious” and asked people to report information via 101 or through the force website, quoting log 116 of January 10.
