An isolated incident near Charles Cross Police Station prompted a brief response from emergency services on Saturday afternoon, with the situation quickly brought under control.
A woman was detained at the scene on Charles Street, close to Drake Circus, shortly after 1.20pm. The response included 3 police cars and two emergency ambulance vehicles, which left the area soon after.
Although the incident, which was in relation to the concern for the welfare of a woman, attracted attention due to its central location, it was contained promptly and did not impact local businesses, traffic, or the wider community.
Despite speculation elsewhere, this was not a huge event. The response was brief, and the area returned to normal shortly afterwards.
City centre activity continued as usual, and no wider disruption was reported.
