A police helicopter was deployed over Plymouth last night as officers carried out searches and door to door enquiries in the Roborough area.
Residents reported seeing a large police presence in and around Hessary Drive, where cordons were put in place during the incident.
Devon and Cornwall Police have now confirmed officers were responding to a concern for the welfare of an individual. A spokesperson for the force said:
“We received information at approximately 8.20pm on Wednesday 4th March which gave us concern for the welfare of an individual.
"We conducted searches of the local woodland and carried out house to house enquiries.
"We managed to locate the individual safe and well. We are satisfied that the initial report was made with good intent.”
