Tinside Lido on Plymouth Hoe has become the centre of intrigue today after a Rolls Royce was seen inside the famous saltwater pool during filming for what Plymouth City Council is calling 'a private activity for a prestigious British brand'.
The Grade II listed Art Deco pool is closed to swimmers today, Friday 15 August, while the unusual production takes place. The sight of one of the world’s most luxurious cars, with a price tag between £434,000 and £500,000, sitting in the middle of the pool has left passers-by stunned and social media buzzing.
Despite the high-profile spectacle, the identity of the brand remains unknown. Onlookers reported a large crane being used to lower the Rolls Royce Phantom into the water earlier this morning. Film crews, safety divers and security staff have been spotted on site. The wider Hoe remains open to the public, with plenty of curious spectators gathering to watch.
A Plymouth City Council spokesperson told Plymouth Plus:
"Tinside Lido is closed today as it hosts a private activity for a prestigious British brand. More news will be shared on 23rdAugust."
