A stolen Mercedes has been linked to a late night car crime spree across Plympton.

Police say the black Mercedes B Class was stolen from the Devonport area at some point overnight between the 10th and 11th of December.

The vehicle was then driven to Plympton, where two suspects carried out a series of thefts from parked cars in Redvers Grove, Sydney Close, Lavinia Drive and Merafield Road during the early hours.

The crime spree is believed to have taken place between around 1.15am and 3.20am on Thursday 11 December.

The stolen Mercedes was later recovered several days after the theft, following a collision on St Levan Road in Keyham.

Police are now appealing for residents living in the Underwood and Merafield areas of Plympton to check CCTV and doorbell cameras for footage that may show suspicious activity.

A man in his 20s and a woman in her 40s, both from Torpoint, have been arrested on suspicion of a number of vehicle related offences. Both have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Anyone with information or footage that could help officers is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via their website or by calling 101, quoting crime reference 50250316508.

PC Neil Lane said:

“We are reaching out to residents living in the Underwood and Merafield areas of Plympton and asking them to check any home footage to see if they have captured any suspicious activity between around 1.15am and 3.20am on 11 December.
“Any footage – even footage that may not seem overly significant – may be crucial in assisting the investigation.
“Anybody who has footage which may assist is asked to download it as soon as possible so that it does not get overwritten or deleted.”
