An extensive cordon has been put in place around King Point Marina in Plymouth after a serious incident.

Numerous police officers were seen frantically searching the shoreline area from around 1am this morning.

Searches also included boats moored within the marina, the marina pontoon, and searches of the water carried out by two Ministry of Defence Police boats.

By around 1.30am, a wide cordon had been set up around the marina, with officers standing guard on the pontoon.

This morning, the cordon remains in place on Soap Street, which has now been closed in both directions as a result.

It comes after a 24-year-old man has been reported missing following a night out in Plymouth.
