Police have launched an investigation after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted near McDonald's in Plymouth city centre late last night.
Emergency services were called following a concern for welfare for a 16-year-old girl on Old Town Street, at around 11.20pm on Wednesday 24 September. A police car and ambulance were seen outside Drake Circus.
It was disclosed to officers that she had been sexually assaulted and given a white powder by an unknown suspect. Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment but has since returned home. She is being supported by specialist officers while enquiries continue. A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:
"We were called by the ambulance service at around 11.20pm on Wednesday 24 September following a concern for welfare for a 16-year-old girl on Old Town Street, Plymouth.
"It was disclosed that the victim had been sexually assaulted over clothing and given a white powder by an unknown suspect.
"She was taken to hospital but has since returned home and will continue to be supported by specialist officers.
"Enquiries are ongoing.
"Anybody who was in the Old Town Street and New George Street area near to McDonald's at around the time of the incident who saw anything suspicious is asked to contact us on 101 or via our website quoting 50250248428".
