# Teenager denies murder of Drew Perham as Plymouth court hears plea

A teenager accused of murdering a young man in Plymouth has pleaded not guilty during a court hearing.

Layton Randle, 19, appeared before [Plymouth Crown Court](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/courts/) today, Friday, 6 March, where he denied the charge of murdering [Drew Perham](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/drew-perham/).

Drew [was reported missing](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/desperate-plea-from-plymouth-family-after-young-man-goes-missing/) after he was last seen leaving The Depo nightclub in the early hours of Saturday, 24 January.

Sadly, his body [was discovered in the water at Millbay Marina](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/teen-arrested-after-body-found-in-plymouth-marina-as-murder-probe-launched/) the following day, Sunday, 25 January.

Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team at [Devon and Cornwall Police](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/devon-and-cornwall-police/) launched an investigation.

During the hearing at [Plymouth Crown Court](https://www.plymouthplus.co.uk/tag/courts/), Randle confirmed his name and date of birth before entering a not guilty plea to the charge of murder.

Randle, of Oakfield Terrace Road in Plymouth, was remanded in custody following the hearing. A trial has been scheduled to begin on 10 August 2026.
