Three arrested for attempted murder after Plymouth stabbing leaves man fighting for his life

A man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a serious stabbing in Plymouth overnight.

Detectives have launched an appeal for information and arrested three people on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police were flagged down shortly before 1 am on Budshead Road in Ernesettle by a man who said he had been stabbed.

The 20-year-old victim was rushed to hospital by emergency services and remains in a critical condition.

A full investigation was launched immediately. Officers closed off Biggin Hill and began searches in the surrounding area.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed this morning that two men, aged 22, and a 24-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. All three remain in police custody.

Detective Inspector Marcus Hodges said:

“There will be a heightened police presence in the area today while our investigation continues, with cordons and scene guards in place.
“We are treating this as an isolated incident and those involved are believed to be known to each other. There is no known risk to the wider community.”

Residents told Plymouth Plus they saw a large number of police vehicles and ambulances on Agaton Street from around 2.30am.

Officers and specialist search teams, including a police dog unit, have been working at the scene throughout the morning.

Detectives are continuing door-to-door enquiries and are reviewing CCTV footage from homes and nearby businesses.

Police are now urging anyone with dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage from Budshead Road, Biggin Hill, or Agaton Street between midnight and 2am to come forward.
