A young man who sadly died in a crash on Kings Road in Plymouth has been named locally as Karol Zalewski.
The collision, which involved Karol’s red Honda motorcycle and a red Mercedes car, took place shortly before 11am on Tuesday 20 May 2025.
Emergency services, including the Devon Air Ambulance, responded swiftly, but despite their best efforts, Karol was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. He was in his 20s.
Since the tragedy, a memorial has grown at the site of the crash. Floral tributes, candles, and heartfelt messages now line the pavement.
Among the items left in his memory is one of Karol’s motorbike gloves. The tribute is a moving reminder of the young life lost and the deep affection he inspired in those who knew him.
Social media has also been filled with tributes, as people reflect on Karol’s warmth, his energy, and the memories they shared with him.
Ollie Sowden shared a message remembering their time growing up together:
“Always hard to say goodbye to a brother. Still feels like yesterday we were roaming the streets doing PK, or just hanging out at Barne Barton after school til midnight. You best be teaching PK up there to everyone else buddy. We’re all gonna miss you dude. A light that just kept on giving. R.I.P my good man.”
Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed they are continuing to investigate the crash. A witness appeal sign has now been put up at the scene.
Officers are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who has relevant dashcam footage, to come forward. The public is asked to contact police quoting log 208 of 20 May.
Karol’s family is being supported by specialist officers as they face the loss of their loved one.
