Two men are missing at sea after a Christmas Day beach swim went wrong at Budleigh Salterton as lifeboats and rescue helicopters search the coast.
Devon and Cornwall Police said emergency services were called at 10.25am on 25 December following reports of swimmers in difficulty.
A number of people were safely recovered to shore and checked by paramedics at the scene, with some taken to hospital as a precaution.
HM Coastguard is now coordinating a major search and rescue operation for the two missing men.
