Two police officers seriously injured after A30 crash

Three men have been hospitalised with serious injuries after a crash in Cornwall overnight.

Emergency services were called just before 8pm last night to a crash on the A30 near Hayle, between Roseworthy and Marsh Lane.

Paramedics treated three men at the scene, including two police officers, all of whom were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Devon and Cornwall Police said their families have been informed.

The A30 was closed in both directions from St Erth roundabout and along the Hayle bypass while emergency services worked at the scene.

Due to a police car being involved in the collision, the force has made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"Three people have been injured following a serious collision on the A30 near Hayle last night, Sunday 7 December.
"We were notified just before 8pm to reports of a collision involving a police vehicle and two cars on the A30 between Roseworthy and Marsh Lane.
"A number of people were treated by ambulance services and three men, including two police officers, were conveyed to hospital with serious injuries. Their families have been informed.
"A full road closure was put in place at St Erth roundabout and at the Hayle bypass while emergency services worked at the scene.
"The road was re-opened this morning.
"Due to the incident involving a police vehicle, a mandatory referral was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
"Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police via our website or by calling 101 quoting log 701."
